With a cross country drive to the west with winter almost on top of us it’s new tire time in the Miner household. Neither my or my wife’s were quite worn out, but they were both meh on tread we ar and the cheapos dealers put on a car so it was time for them to go.

With the expectation that we’ll wander into the mountains regularly after the move we went with Falken Wildpeak A/T on the RAV4 and they both look pretty decent and handle fairly well. They’re 3 peak rated and have decent chonky looking tread that looks like it’ll handle gravel well.

There’s a tiny bit more road noise than the super-cheapo low rolling resistance tires than were on it, but still very reasonable.

Next up is my sportwagen. Nokian Wr G4 tires! Wrong Wheel Drive recently posted about a new set and he and other quite liked them so I ordered a set at a pretty reasonable $130 each.

I’ll get them mounted tomorrow hopefully and be ready to enjoy some fresh shoes all around!

I can echo the sentiment for the G4s! Nokian all-weathers are all I buy for my XC90 (currently G4 SUV , had G3 SUV and G2 SUV before), super  satisfied with them.

Got them mounted this afternoon and they look good at least. It'll be a while before I can put them to an actual test.

They generally tend to be unnoticeable until called for haha
